Test Cage — Fit & Design Validation

This test cage is a temporary, functional device used during the custom design process to confirm fit before delivery of the final designs for Badass Workroom to produce.

It allows you to safely evaluate sizing, comfort, and overall geometry before ordering from Badass Workroom. Internal diameter, length, and curvature can be assessed in real use, making it easy to identify any adjustments needed.

This step helps ensure the final design meets your expectations.

Material options:

• PLA cage using a desktop printer. Less durable, a rough finish, and depending on your design, may not survive overnight wear. 
• Nylon cage using an industrial printer with a textured finish. This option will be far stronger than the FDM-printed option but ultimately durability is dependent on your design. Depending on sensitivity and your design, this could be worn long term.
• Vapor smoothed nylon cage using an industrial printer with a smooth finish. This is well beyond a "test" cage. But again, long-term durability of the device is dependent on your design. This method will produce a black device. And it's a great device to hold you over until your steel or titanium device arrives.

The FDM printed cage will need sanding to be comfortable as there will be significant number of rough spots where supports were removed. It can also likely be shipped the next day. The nylon cages will take several weeks.

The FDM option is best if you simply want to see the cage in real life and a quick fit check but you don't feel the need to wear it any longer than that. If you want a proper fit check with overnight wear, one of the nylon cages would be more appropriate.
